I am
claudia segre
After more than 30 years at the forefront of international financial markets, I now head up the Global Thinking Foundation, which was established in 2016 out of a need to make my economic and financial expertise available. The foundation operates in Italy, Belgium, and France. I have worked as a trader and manager in banks such as Intesa, UniCredit and Credem, experiencing first-hand the challenges and transformations of the financial world.
I have been involved in financial education and gender advocacy since 1997, collaborating with institutions such as the OECD, the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank. I am involved in various scientific and technical committees, and I had the honour of being named one of Forbes’ Top 100 Italian Women in 2019.
I contribute as an advisor to the Bicameral Commission on Femicide and Other Forms of Violence and as a member of the Technical and Scientific Committee of the Observatory on Gender-Based Violence within the Department for Equal Opportunities of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers.
My commitment to civil society has seen me participate in the 2017 G7 Women’s Summit, leading to my appointment as Co-Chair of Women7/G7 Italia from the end of 2023, the G7 group for women’s policies. I currently continue to work on issues of economic and social justice as Vice-President of the Fondazione Pubblicità Progresso, and previously served as Vice-President of AssoFintech and as a member of the Executive Board of ASSIOMFOREX. Recently, in June 2026, I was nominated as a member of the Council of Europe’s GREVIO Committee, composed of independent experts for the implementation of the Istanbul Convention.
My
mission
My battle is against gender-based economic violence and financial abuse, which undermine the economic sustainability of families. I want every woman to know how to protect herself, how to invest in herself, how to be self-determined and protect herself, make informed decisions and seize the opportunities that digital technology offers them.
Global Thinking Foundation
With an extraordinary team and a large network of volunteers, together with Global Thinking Foundation we promote financial and digital literacy programs, work in schools, support entrepreneurs and build empowerment pathways that address rights, independence and freedom. At the heart of everything we do, we place concrete and constructive intergenerational dialogue.
A message from me
Hello! I'm Claudia.
I know how difficult it can be to take control of your financial situation. However, learning to manage your money is a life-changing achievement. It means greater peace of mind, more independent choices, and more freedom. Above all, it means greater self-respect, often arising from difficult moments and emerging stronger and more confident.
My Dream?
May no woman ever again be told that she must settle. The Istanbul Convention must be fully implemented because women's rights are universal rights that belong to everyone. We deserve everything: economic independence, labour rights, freedom of choice. Because money, for us women, is not just a means to improve our lives and well-being in the long term: it is a part of our personal history, our self-esteem, our serenity, and our ability to share the same commitment and social and personal responsibility with the people we care about.
